Pre-Job Meetings and Permits
To ensure that job related hazards are identified, pre-job meetings help workers implement proper job planning, including identifying potential hazards and taking safety precautions
Workers must follow proper procedures, and communicate effectively with all job participants, which includes Job Hazard Analysis prior to beginning any job
In many instances, work will require written permits that are filled out entirely and signed by the appropriate authorizing facility personnel before work can begin
Permit requirements and pre-job meeting protocols vary from one facility to the next
It is the contractor's responsibility to adhere to facility requirements related to:
Permitting
Pre-Job Meetings
Workers must obey all hazard warnings on the job site, such as:
Signs
Tags
Barricades
Signals, and alarms
Yellow caution tape indicates hazards may be present and cautious movement is required
Red danger tape indicates areas that can only be accessed by authorized personnel
Tags must be posted on all barrier tape, indicating the hazard and the name of the person placing the tape
Remember to remove tape once the associated hazard no longer exists
Know both the audio and visual components of all alarms on site, and immediately take instruction from mill personnel when any alarm is activated
